NCBL is now hot and we are almost entering semifinals for all divisions. But let’s us straight to D1.
In D1, things are getting exhilarating. Not only did it happen once but twice in last Saturday’s games. We finally have both TItans Elite and Go Strong finally succumbed to their second loss of the season happening last week.
Division 1
Pegasus Vs Phantoms
Pegasus started off beautifully while Phantom basically took the entire Q1 to adjust and catching up to Pegasus. However, in around Q3 reality kicks in for the Phantoms as they only have a 7-man rotation to play with while Pegasus came with a full squad.
With clever rotation from Pegasus and sealing Edika, Brooklyn and Syazwan. Phantoms gassed out and surrendered the W. After the W, we had a short talk with Coach Jijun that they are being grateful and blessed by this win.
They will consider to recruit more younger players to join their club to have a fight in the next season.
Titans Elite vs Bayang Gelap Kings
First up we have Titans Elite going against Bayang Gelap Kings. The Kings took advantage of the absence of the TItan’s star “Center, Maegan Mahadevan. Without Maegan to protect the post, Kings pressured Titan’s defense by out rebounding and out scoring Titans in the paint.
Titans paced the game and went against the Kings with their own version of the small ball game but in the end Kings’ smart play overwhelmed them with a couple of pick and rolls and fast break to tie the game in Q4.
With only a few minutes left in Q4, Kings took over the game and delivered the L to the Titans.
Juggernaut vs GoStrong
Juggernaut did not back down for a fight. They played like it’s the finals, they hustled and rustled for every possession they could get. Kevin, Kar Fatt and John Wong joins the GoStrong party.
Yes, folks. The ABL player, the KL Dragons player, John Wong. Juggernaut was surprised that there will be going against an ABL player this season. Juggernaut kept the fight close and their defense tight.
Go Strong shots just can’t seem to get it in. They tried countless three and under the basket as well. Until disaster struck, Kevin sprained his ankle and rested until the end of the game.
While GoStrong’s shots continued to miss, Juggernaut stayed in the game and forced the game to overtime. Juggernaut knew what they needed to do to win this game. They needed to capitalize on Go Strong’s drought and seized all boards.
With only 1 point difference (57-56) Juggernaut shot their last free throw of the game and grabbed their own miss. And this is how the game concluded.
And that’s the end of the D1 report. However, as the saying goes, “Job’s not finished. There is more basketball to play.”
Division 3
Division has finally entered the Top 8 Stage. Here are the teams that qualified to the top 8.
