The Gatorade High School Basketball League (Gatorade HSBL) is a league that showcases a profesionally runned basketball league for high school participants.
The Gatorade HSBL also serves as a platform to reach the educated youths of Malaysia, especially in Major Urban centers, to participate and play basketball as part of their education.
For a historical walkthrough, the league started as basketball development league, making its grassroots stance with the high school participants in 2007, with just 30 teams. However, the league has grown to 60 teams participation in 2012 and grew even higher the next year, to 80 teams paticipating. As of 2019, 100 teams have participated in the league, a momentus success of participation from the high school youths.
The Gatorade HSBL comprises of sports, side events, entertainment, basketball clinics, and contests in the active season per year, which is for three months and played on every weekend of the active season per year.
The Gatorade HSBL objectives are to nationalize the first ever high school basketball that is runned commercially in Malaysia, making the high school teams participating as part of a pretigous and well recognized championship in public.
In addition, the Gatorade HSBL wants to create the excitement of sports and sports marketing with the students and public spectators. This would enable commercial brands to work together with high schools teams and spectators, especially their parents and friends, with a longer and more comfortable methods of engagements and sustanability.
