The National Community Basketball League (NCBL) in the 2020 has around 126 teams, a huge improvement when they first began with around 8 teams in 2005
The league is currently one of the oldest basketball leagues in Malaysia, compared to other basketball leagues in Malaysia while having the highest growth in team participation.
This league, began as a development league,started on the 2005 with just 8 teams. The league grew to 43 teams at 2011 and an increase to 58 teams in 2013.
Moving forward to 2015, 62 teams was part of the league. In year 2020, it is 11th year for the league and 62 teams are playing over the 4 months period.
A lot of improvements and new plans are in progress to reach our goal to get 100 teams to participate the league in the coming future.
NCBL consists of 7 divisions which mens and womens plays are parts of categories. The league begins to play for a 4 moths period per season, in a year.
NCBL has a vision to develop a national community basketball standards league that can be an equal to the chinese community basketball standards.
In addition, NCBL would also wants to create and develop a national community of officials and referees from retired players in local basketball industry.
